Local Area Information

Things to do

Beaches:  all about 30 – 40 mins away. Our favourites are Barafundle, Freshwater West and Freshwater East, Manorbier, Newgale, Saundersfoot, Broadhaven and Little Haven, plus Tenby. For watersport activities, check out Outer Reef which offers paddleboarding, kayaking, surfing and coasteering sessions from Saundersfoot, Tenby, Stackpole, Newgale, Freshwater West and Broadhaven North.  If you fancy an adventure, Paddle West does canoe tours on the Cleddau River and row boats at Pembroke Castle; Tyf runs coastering from St Davids. Wild Swim Wales offers sea swimming, snorkelling, cave visits and swim treks.

Castles: Carew, Manorbier, Pembroke as well as of course Llawhaden.

Activities and Place of Interest: Clerkenhill Adventure Farm, Oakwood theme park (especially for teenagers), Folly Farm, Hangar 5 trampolines at Haverfordwest. Tenby is also worth a visit. St David’s for the Cathedral – and stop at pretty Solva on the way. Wild Lakes in nearby Martletwy is a wake park with an inflatable and bouldering wall and has
restaurant/tipi with a cool vibe.   Pembrokeshire Llamas will take you on a trek through a secret valley…with llamas! The Bug Farm near St Davids is brilliant…and has a great café, featuring bugs!

Islands to visit: Skomer and Ramsey are great islands for bird life - you'll see puffins in May and June (essential to book ahead) - and Caldey makes for an interesting day trip.

Walking/running/cycling: plenty of nice walks nearby eg Canaston Woods, Lawrenny, Bosherton Lily Ponds, plus the  Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. There’s a 5km running loop along nearby lanes.  Cycling - just head out - it’s hilly!  Great tracks – for walking/cycling – around former slate quarries, can be found at Rosebush. Check out the local reservoir Llys y Fran, which has a cycling trail as well as watersports activities.

Eating out: Narberth is a foodie town with delis, cafes, restaurants. Ultra Comida is a good place for breakfast/brunch; Plum Vanilla for veggies/vegan food; Madtoms for excellent seafood; Top Joes for pizza, The Angel for pub/bistro food, the Hwb for street food. Newly renovated Blackpool Mill offers a lovely dining experience in a historic setting. Further
afield: The Shed in Porthgain for unbeatable fish and chips; Pointz Castle Ice cream (in between Newgale and Solva) for dangerously addictive ice cream; The Grove (Narberth) something fancy. For a very Welsh experience, head to Tafarn Sinc at Rosebush. And for an epic burger - Cafe Mor (a solar powered boat/van) at The Old Point House, Angle. Plus our nearest pub - The Bush - in Robeston Wathen is good for anything with chips.

Shopping:  Narberth (3 miles away) has a Costcutter, Spar and Nisa as well as a greengrocer/deli called Wisebuys and lots of other lovely shops that you will hopefully enjoy! In Haverfordwest (20 minutes away) there is a Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi and a large Tesco. Click and collect slots are generally available from Morrisons and Tesco; deliveries are possible but book early (use Old Vicarage Farm as the address). There is a fuel station in Robeston Wathen (1.5 miles away) with a small shop - usually closes at 8pm.
